The August 2014 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 12th at the home of N9CHN and KA9GPY.
The meeting was called to order by President Ted – K9IMM at 7:15 PM. Sixteen members and numerous guests attended.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the July meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund for July, 2014 was not available.
Committee Reports:
– DX Report… Ted – K9IMM reported that Marti Lane – OH2BH, has taken charge of the pending Heard Island DX-pedition and is now planning to be QRO in late 2015 or early 2016.
– Repeater… Ed – N9MW: Repeater operating well at 30 watts output, please use it.
– Packet Cluster… Ed – N9MW: W9BG is working.
– Website… Ed – N9MW: Website is working.
– Email… Ted – K9IMM: e-mail reflector is working.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: Reported that this year’s scholarship candidate is Michael Josiah – AC9FJ.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: A motion was made and carried to approve Josh for the scholarship grant.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: Ed also reported that some of the recently donated equipment is still available, including a quality homemade amplifier with a pair of Eimac 3-500A tubes.
General and Member Information:
Ted – K9IMM has a new Kenwood TS990.
Ted – K9IMM reported that the new N1MM Logger program will be released this month.
John – W4PAH earned his 150 endorsement for DXCC – Mixed Mode.
N9CK – Steve generated a score of nearly 2.5 million points in the 2014 ARRL DX CW contest!
N9CK – Steve earned Golden Log in the 2013 ARRL RTTY contest.
N9LB – Reported the W1AW/9-WI second week operation produced nearly 36,000 Q’s, the highest number so far for any second week centennial operation.
Old Business:
Reminder that the September 9th MDXC meeting will be at Fitzgerald’s in Middleton.
New Business:
Thanks to Bill and Sharon for their hospitality for hosting the August meeting. A good time was had by all.
