  Meeting Minutes for March 11, 2014   


The March 2014 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 11th at Green Lantern in McFarland, WI.

The meeting was called to order by President Ted – K9IMM at 7:00 PM.

Eleven members and one guest Elmer “Bud” Frohardt – W9DY, attended.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund as of February 17, 2013 was read and approved.

Committee Reports:
– DX Report… 9J2T – Zambia on now, ZL7AAA – Chatham Is plans to be QRV starting on March 20, VK9MT – Mellish Reef expected on March 28, FR/t – Tromelin coming in October.
– Repeater… Ed – N9MW: Repeater operating well, please use it.
– Packet Cluster… Ed – N9MW: W9BG is working.
– Website… Ed – N9MW: Website is working, have had some issues with our service provider.
– Email… Ted – K9IMM: e-mail reflector is working.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: Scholarship committee continues to look for donations of good used equipment for sale at the MARA hamfest in April.

General and Member Information:
Guests: “Bud” W9DY has 380 DXCC countries confirmed, needs the new PJ’s to climb even higher.

Ted – K9IMM reported 17 members are now in the “Madison DX Club” ClubLog Leaderboard display. Ed – N9MW has an Astron Power Supply upgrade project documented on the MDXC website: Ed – N9MW earned DXCC on 12m using LOTW.
Steve – N9CK just reached 9-Band DXCC status.
Lloyd – N9LB reported that the WIAW/9 special event stations produced 44,175 contacts, five MDXC members K9IMM, N9CK, N9LB, W4PAH, and W9PN contributed their time and stations
to produce that number, exceeding the scores produced by larger states including NY, CA, TX and all previous W1AW portable operations. A week ago, Florida was able to pass WI
by producing 50K contacts but it took them 50 operators to do so. Wisconsin has a second week of operation coming the first week in July – stay tuned, we just might pull back

Old Business:
Jim – W9GL reported that the MDXC Spring Banquet will be held at the Maple Tree in McFarland the evening of April 19th. We will order off the menu.
Ted – K9IMM reintroduced the request for funding from the FR/t – Tromelin Island DXpedition.
It was moved and seconded to donate $100. Discussion followed, then voted on, and approved.

New Business:
Ed – N9MW, proposed we purchase a club video projector for use at all future club meetings. Using available Wi-Fi service or removable media, it would be used
for displaying DX funding requests, DXpedition videos, present programs and display virtual shack tours.
Ed – N9MW made a motion to purchase, it was moved and seconded to allocate up to $400 for this device. Discussion followed, then voted on, and approved.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.
