  Meeting Minutes for October 14, 2014   



The October 2014 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 14th at Fitzgerald’s in Middleton.

The meeting was called to order by President Ted - K9IMM at 7:00 PM.   Fifteen members and guest Bonnie - W9BJB attended.

A video of the K5D DXpedition to Desecheo Is was presented during dinner, followed by the business meeting.

Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the September meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: Financial Statement of Account for the general fund for September, 2014 was read and approved.

Committee Reports:
– DX Report… Conditions are excellent right now.
– DX Report… Jim - KE9ET reported via email that the Christmas Is - VK9XPS DXpedition is expected to be QRV on October 18,
– DX Report… FT4TA - Tromelin will be QRV on October 30 .
– DX Report… VU4KV - Andaman Is coming in November, many other interesting DX on now or expected soon.
– Repeater… Ed – N9MW: Repeater operating well.
– Packet Cluster… Ed - N9MW: W9BG is working.
– Website… Ed – N9MW: Website is working; a rouge page has been removed.
– Email… Ted – K9IMM: e-mail reflector is working.
– Scholarship… Ed - N9MW: This year’s scholarship recipient, Michael Josiah - AC9FJ, sent a nice thank you note to the club.
– Scholarship… Ed - N9MW:Terry – W9UX made a substantial equipment donation to the scholarship fund.

General and Member Information:
K9ZT - Bud, N9ELF - Jim, N9LB - Lloyd, W9EWZ - Bob, and W9PN - Doug, all attended the recent W9DXCC convention.
K9ZT - Bud, won a FLEX-1500 Software Defined Radio at W9DXCC.
The W9DXCC FT5ZM Amsterdam IS DXpedition presentation by Craig - K9CT detailing the FT5ZM Amsterdam IS
DXpedition included an awesome video showing their 160m contacts, including QSOs with six MDXC club members
K9IMM, N9CK, N9LB, N9MW, W9EWZ, and W9PN
Ted - K9IMM requested that club members contact him about bringing electronic photos and/or videos of their shacks
and antennas for use as virtual shack tours at future meetings.

Old Business: None.

New Business:
Ed - N9MW made a motion to create a new, local, “swap e-mail reflector” for the southern Wisconsin area.
Lloyd - N9LB seconded it, a discussion followed and it was voted on by the membership and approved to finance it.

It is time to renew your MDXC membership for the 2014-2015 year!
If you have not already renewed, please send a check for $20 made out to “MDXC” to Lloyd - N9LB ( QRZ.COM address ).

Notice is given that the club will again be meeting at Fitzgerald’s in November.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 PM.
