The March 2015 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 10th at The Green Lantern in McFarland.
The meeting was called to order by President Ted – K9IMM at 7:15 PM. Fifteen members attended.
Secretary’s Report: Minutes of the February 2015 meeting were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Financial Statement of Account for the General Fund as of February 17, 2015 was read and approved.
Committee Reports:
– DX Report… Jim – KE9ET reported E30FB – Eritrea QRV along with ZD8D – Ascension Is, and VU4U Andaman and Nicobar Is.
– DX Report… Bob – W9EWZ reported working the ZD8D DXpedition on 6 meters.
– DX Report… It was also reported that 7QAA – Malawi will be QRV from March 11 to April 1.
– Repeater… Ed – N9MW: Repeater operating well.
– Packet Cluster… Ed – N9MW: W9BG is operating well.
– Website… Ed – N9MW: Website is operating well.
– Email… Ted – K9IMM: MDXC and SWAP reflectors are operating well, tweaked a few parameters.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: Tim WO9U sent out 2015 year letters to area High Schools.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: Donations of equipment for the scholarship fund are coming in, more are being solicited.
– Scholarship… Ed – N9MW: The Scholarship committee will be hosting a scholarship table at the MARA Hamfest in Stoughton on April 11.
General and Member Information:
Welcome to new member Dan – K9IBM! Yes he worked at IBM for many years. Dan is Extra class, prefers digital modes and QSLs direct, bureau and LOTW.
Ed – N9MW blew up his radio, but enjoyed the QSY to Arizona.
Ed – N9MW achieved DXCC on 80 meters.
Ed – N9EM has been working DX on 432 MHz, best DX is KC Mo.
Bud – W9DY up to 383 DXCC entities, but still needs the new PJ5.
Ted – K9IMM reports conditions for the ARRL SSB Test were so-so
Bob – W9EWZ has an Expert 2K Amplifier on order.
Jim – N9ELF is planning to set up a remote station in this area.
Ted – K9IMM reported that Wisconsin QSO Party is this Sunday.
Lloyd – N9LB reported that the Jefferson Hamfest is this Sunday.
Old Business:
No volunteers for planning and running the 2015 MDXC Banquet, so that event has been cancelled.
New Business:
Lloyd – N9LB Presented a request for funding for a DXpedition to VK0EK – Heard Is, scheduled for November-December of this year.
Ed – N9MW made a motion to contribute $100, seconded by Jim – KE9ET.
A brief discussion followed, a vote was taken and it was approved by the membership.

It was announced that the April 14th MDXC meeting will be back at Fitzgerald’s in Middleton.
