  Meeting Minutes for September 13, 2016   


The September 2016 meeting of the Madison DX Club was held on Tuesday the 13th at Fitzgerald's in Middleton.

The meeting was called to order by President Lloyd - N9LB at 7:20 PM.         Fifteen members attended.

Secretary’s Report: Not available

Treasurer’s Report: Not available

Committee Reports:
– DX Report… Bob - W9EWZ reported that A5A Bhutan and TO5FP St Pierre & Miquelon are QRV now, YX0V - Aves Island postponed but may still happen,
– DX Report…T31T - Central Kiribati expected in early October, and KH1 Baker Howland Island expected in 2017.
– DX Report…The rumored CE0X - San Felix DXpedition is not happening.
– Repeater… Ed - N9MW: Repeater operating well ( frequencies are 444.775 / 449.775 with 123 PL ).
– DX Spotting Cluster… Ed - N9MW: Aside from occasional unexplained outages, W9BG is operating well.
– Website… Ed - N9MW: Website is operating well.
– Email… group: MDXC and SWAP e-mail reflectors are operating well,
– Email… group: Users are cautioned to NOT forward emails to the e-mail distribution list, rather cut the content and past it into a new e-mail message.
– Scholarship… Ed - N9MW: Recent equipment donations were sold at the Baraboo Swapfest and the proceeds put in the scholarship fund.
– Scholarship… Ed - N9MW:We also received thank you notes from two of this year’s recipients.

General and Member Information:
It was reported that W9MZ has relocated to St. Charles, IL.
Doug - W9PN, now in Texas, poured the concrete foundations for his new towers last Friday.
Ed - N9MW shared information about Herb - W9LA’s health.
Ed - N9MW reported that Paul Bittner - W0AIH has several videos on YouTube showing his new full-sized 75m three element yagi.

Lloyd - N9LB reminded the group that W9DXCC is this Saturday, September 17.

Old Business:
Bob - W9EWZ distributed the previously ordered MDXC name badges. ( Badges still available, contact Bob )
Lloyd - N9LB again called for a MDXC Fall Banquet coordinator volunteer.

New Business:
Dick - K9APW reported that the Amateur Radio Parity Act had passed the House and is now in the Senate.
The ARRL is requesting all members to contact their Senators in support of this act.

A plaque was presented to Jim - W9GL thanking him for his past service as MDXC president.

The business meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.

The 2006 DXpedition to 3Y - Peter 1 Island video was shown as the evening’s program.
