KA9GPY, Sharon Hanoldn9chn@aol.com
Here's Sharon at the controls of the well equipped KA9GPY/N9CHN station where she has earned phone and mixed DXCC. The station is anchored by a Yaseu FT 1000MP transceiver and a Heath SB220 amplifier. Additionally, there is a Kenwood 146/440mhz dual band FM transceiver and 220mhz DX-cluster facilities. Note the monitor scope and assortment of computer equipment as well..
KA9GPY resides on the shores of Lake Wisconsin. Antennas include a Hy-Gain TH7 for 10, 15 and 20 meters, a trap dipole for 80 and 40 meters and other antennas for VHF/UHF.
Sharon earned a novice license in February of 1980. She upgraded to technician and technician plus in 1985 and 1991. In May of 2000 she passed the general exams. Since then, the DX bug has bitten. Her biggest thrill was breaking the pile-up on the second day of the first Ducie Island operation for a "new one" that everyone needed.
She is an active member of ARRL, the Madison DX Club, Central Wisconsin Repeater Association, Yellow Thunder Radio Club and Columbia County ARES/RACES.
We also have to note that while Sharon's radio activities are notable, she has also made miraculous recoveries from several dire health related problems. She's one tough lady and really deserves that winter condo in Green Acres, AZ and new T-Bird in the driveway.
